8/4/2017 - Driving to Forks

Friday - We drove back through Port Angeles and across the top of the Olympic National Forest this morning to Forks, not quite on the coast but not to far away.  It was a beautiful drive, the weather was perfect, and we drove along the magnificent Crescent Lake for several miles.  The water was emerald-colored and very clear -- I could see the rocks and logs under the water, and the shelf where it got deeper, from the seat in the RV.

Our road, Hwy 101, was a little windy but it was a beautiful drive, through the old-growth trees in the forest.

We crossed at least two river, more than once, but traffic wasn't bad and we enjoyed the drive.  I really liked this picture of the reflection of the mountains in Lake Crescent.  We plan to go back to this lake in the next day or two.
We only drove 77 miles today, and arrived at our campground in Forks about 12:15.  We had reserved two nights here, but decided to extend it to 3 because there are several trips we want to make out of here, starting with the blackberry festival in Joyce tomorrow.

We all had a rest (3 of the 4 of us napped), but when Collins got us, Marilyn discovered they had a leak under the kitchen sink, so after 3 trips to the hardware store across the street, as of this writing (8:40 p.m.), they are still working on it.  It looks like their problem is going to cancel our nightly card game. It stayed in the 70s all day today, and there is a nice breeze blowing in, so this is an easy place to stay.  Hopefully, Collins and Joe will get their leak issue resolved and we can head out first thing in the morning.
