day 3 in vincennes

 8/2/2021 - Monday

today I had an agenda.  Joe and I went to town for breakfast, then he dropped me off at barbara's.  we made a trip to Montgomery to look at yard ornaments.  I was looking for something to use as a tombstone for an aunt, and I found something that would work.  barbara had something on order and they just finished it, so she was able to pick it up.  then we headed back to town, had lunch, and drove to two cemeteries (barbara has a thing about cemeteries) to the graves of some of our classmates.  we were sort of lost for a while on a dirt road, but we finally came out to a road that took us to the cemetery.  we did see 2 deer on the dirt road.  we took a more direct route home, so our adventure ended well.

barbara dropped me off back at the rv, and we rested until it was time to go to town to the food trucks on Monday night, at the river walk.  we had never been to this event before, it's fairly new for vincennes, so we were looking forward to it, not knowing what to expect.  It was quite nice, lots and lots of people.  It runs from 5:00 to 8:00.  Probably about 12 trucks. Jaclyn met us there with her kids.  I changed into jeans thinking it might get cool, which was a mistake.  since it stays daylight here until 9:30, the heat of the day is about 6:00, and it was pretty warm right there on the river bank with the western sun beating on us.

It's right along the river, and there are picnic tables set up.

there is also a live band.  I intended to listen to it for a while (and a get a picture from the front instead of the side of the stage), but by the time we got back to that end they were putting their instruments away.

In line in front of us, there was a family with a little boy.  we sat at their table while we waited for our food order to get ready, and Joe found out the little boy's name is Theo.  so I guess this is the namesake of our mascot prairie dog in the Jeep, whose name is also theo.

we drove across the bridge into Illinois to check out a possible campground, then drove back to the house.  Jaclyn had stopped by to pick up something, so we got to visit with her some more, and play I Spy with Maura.  then it was time to call it a day.
